Nadezha Skardino, Sergei Novikov win mixed relay during Legends Race

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Nadezha Skardino and Sergei Novikov have won the mixed relay event during the Legends Race in Raubichi, BelTA has learned.

The final shots decided the fate of the awards. The four-time Olympic champion Darya Domracheva managed to stay in the lead from the very start but at the final firing line Ole Einar Bjoerndalen missed three shots, allowing Sergei Novikov to get ahead. Sergei Novikov secured victory for the Belarusian duo. The third prize went to Anna Bogaliy (Russia) and Frode Andresen (Norway).

After the race Darya Domracheva thanked all the fans for coming to watch the race and for making such a cool festival possible. Sergei Novikov shared some emotions, too. “I didn’t expect victory in the mixed relay event. It was difficult to stay on par with Bjoerndalen and Andresen. I am glad that we’ve won. I feel joy for Nadezha Skardino, who had been preparing for the Legends Race,” Sergei Novikov noted.

The sport festival in Raubichi will end with ceremonies to award winners of the Legends Race, the national competition Snow Sniper, and a ceremony to say goodbye to Darya Domracheva and Nadezha Skardino as they retire from high-performance sports.
