MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will make an official visit to Ukraine on 20-21 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The Belarusian leader is scheduled to hold talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, both one-on-one and in an extended format.
The heads of state will discuss the development of political, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and Ukraine. Emphasis will be made on the current state and prospects for collaboration in economy, including in such areas as trade, investment, industrial cooperation, petrochemical industry, energy, agriculture, transport and logistics, development of interregional dialogue. The parties are also set to harmonize the approaches to the further development of cross-border cooperation.
One of the topics of the meeting will be the effort to resolve the conflict in the east of Ukraine, in which Belarus is actively involved by hosting the talks between the parties to the process.
Alexander Lukashenko and Petro Poroshenko will discuss the situation in the region as a whole, and will exchange the views on the international issues.
It is expected that following the talks, a number of documents will be signed, in the presence of the leaders of the two countries, to promote the cooperation in economy, science and technology, and also in culture and inter-ethnic relations.
