Lukashenko meets with participants of Junior Eurovision 2018 at Palace of Independence

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko met with the participants of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 at the Palace of Independence on 20 November, BelTA has learned.

“You are already the winners!” the head of state stressed and praised the achievements of young talents partaking in this large-scale international song contest. “You must be proud and happy that you are the winners in your countries, and now I wish you good luck,” the Belarusian leader added.

He stressed that Belarus is famous for its honesty and justice. “Therefore, the strongest contestant will win here,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The head of state had a very warm conversation with the participants of the song contest. The meeting was full of friendly hugs, smiles and sincere children’s laughter. The event was also attended by Eurovision winners and participants of previous years. Among them were Ksenia Sitnik, Olga Satsyuk, Lidiya Zablotskaya.

“How are you? Tell me,” Alexander Lukashenko welcomed the children at the Palace of Independence.

“It is very beautiful here,” a contestant shared his impressions.

Then Alexander Lukashenko asked the same question to Belarusian entry Daniel Yastremsky. “I am fine. Thank you for the invitation,” he said.

Speaking about the expectations from his Eurovision performance, the boy said that he will do everything to represent Belarus at the song contest in the best possible way.

The children asked the president if he will attend the song contest. The Belarusian had of state assured: “Even if I do not come, I will watch everything.”

The participants of the contest sang part of the song of the Junior Eurovision 2018 Light Up! At the meeting. It is also the slogan of the contest.

The participants, members of delegations and organizers of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 presented a symbolic copy of the main prize to Alexander Lukashenko. It is a glass microphone with colored lines inside the upper part, which symbolize the flows of sound.

Belarusian participants of the previous Eurovision song contests told the president about their future creative plans.

“Thank you, guys, for visiting me here. This will also be a small page in my biography,” Alexander Lukashenko said at the end of the meeting.

After a photo opportunity with the Belarusian leader all children received small presents - confectionery and books about Belarus.
