MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – Conferment of the President’s awards For Spiritual Revival and special prizes on Belarusian art luminaries, and special prizes of the President Belarusian Sports Olympus on renowned athletes opens the Year of Culture, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the ceremony to present the awards on 12 January, BelTA informs.
“It means that the state draws much attention to the development of culture which is a very important field,” the head of state stressed. “The main objectives are to build up the intellectual and spiritual potential of the nation, promote initiatives aimed at the preservation of the historical legacy, lift modern art to a brand-new level, teach young people to love their Homeland.”
The President believes that Belarus is rich in talents and creative achievements which are the pride of the country. The celebrations of anniversaries of such art luminaries as Vladimir Mulyavin, Maxim Bogdanovich, Kondrat Krapiva, Ivan Shamyakin will be a bright testimony to this fact.
Alexander Lukashenko assured that the 25th anniversary festival Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk will be a success. This universally acknowledged platform brings together renowned artists and unveils new stars.
The President stressed that in the Year of Culture the country will step up efforts to promote various spheres of art and enrich the spiritual life of people.
