MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Representatives of Kenya and Belarus won the 2017 Minsk Half Marathon, BelTA has learned.
The men’s 21.1km event was won by Hillary Kiptum Maiyo Kimaiyo of Kenya. The athlete covered the distance in one hour three minutes and 19 seconds. The Kenyan athlete won the 2016 Minsk Half Marathon in one hour three minutes. Ethiopia’s Bekele Jima finished second in 1:04.23. Ukranian Nikolai Lukhimchik came in third in 1:06.13. Vladislav Pryamov of Belarus showed the time of 1:07.16 on the track.
The podium in the women’s event was occupied by Belarusians. Lyudmila Lyakhovich won the event with the time of 1:13.53. Nina Savina finished second in 1:14.14. Third was Marina Domantsevich (1:11.22).
The Minsk Half Marathon was held for the third time this year. Some 16,000 people from 36 countries took part in the event in 2015. The number of participants increased to 20,000 in 2016. In 2017 there were some 30,000 runners from 50 countries.
