MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – Belarus claimed the women’s team Archery silver at the 1st European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, BelTA informs.
The Belarusian team of Anna Marusova, Yekaterina Timofeyeva and Yelena Tolkach was held off by Italy 3-5 in the final. On the way to the podium the Belarusians beat Spain 5-3, Germany 6-2, and Ukraine 5-3. Ukraine landed bronze after edging Russia 5-4 in the third-place event.
The Belarusian men’s team of Anton Prilepov, Pavel Dalidovich and Alexander Lyagushev will face Spain in the round of Last 16.
Earlier, Anna Marusova and Anton Prilepov reached the mixed team quarterfinal to lose to the Slovenian duet of Ana Umer and Rok Bizjak 2-6.
The Belarusian archers are through the first Individual qualifying round. Pavel Dalidovich, Alexander Lyagushev and Anton Prilepov will continue their run on 20 June, with Anna Marusova, Yekaterina Timofeyeva and Yelena Tolkach resuming competitions on 19 June.
