ORSHA DISTRICT, 16 April (BelTA) – This Easter Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko lit a candle in the Transfiguration Church in the town of Baran, Orsha District, Vitebsk Oblast, BelTA has learned.

Archbishop of Vitebsk and Orsha Dimitry and the temple’s vicar Vadim Kotov welcomed Alexander Lukashenko into the temple.

Alexander Lukashenko gifted an icon of Jesus Christ the Almighty to the temple. The icon was painted using the wax tempera technique in the style of the Vetka icon painting school.

The head of state received an icon of Alexander Nevsky as a gift.
