Humanitarian project: Social Taxi

Project name: Social Taxi

Implementation period: 12 months

Applicant: Yelsk Territorial Social Services Center

Project objectives: To advance social integration of the target group through affordable transportation. The target group includes people with disabilities (groups I and II), wheelchair users, people with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and people having the same status, unemployable people with disabilities (groups I and II) who live alone, familyless pensioners, families raising children with disabilities, foster families.

Project goals:

- to expand the list of services offered by the Yelsk Territorial Social Services Center by providing social taxi services;

- to raise awareness of the social taxi opportunity among people with disabilities (groups I and II), wheelchair users, people with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and people having the same status, unemployable people with disabilities (groups I and II) who live alone, familyless pensioners, families raising children with disabilities, foster families.

- to provide taxi services to people with disabilities (groups I and II), wheelchair users, people with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and people having the same status, unemployable people with disabilities (groups I and II) who live alone, familyless pensioners, families raising children with disabilities, foster families.

Target group: People with disabilities (groups I and II), wheelchair users, people with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and people having the same status, unemployable people with disabilities (groups I and II) who live alone, familyless pensioners, families raising children with disabilities, foster families living in Yelsk District.

Brief description: 
 
- purchasing special-purpose vehicles;

- getting the vehicles ready for the intended use (registering the vehicles at a notary's office, carrying out vehicle diagnostics, sealing the speedometer, purchasing an insurance, getting permission to operate the vehicles, signing an employment contract with a driver);

- arranging dispatcher’s workplace (purchasing a phone, a computer, a copier, a desk, a chair);

- compiling a computer database to keep track of the services provided;

- conducting an awareness raising campaign about social taxi through the media;

- providing transportation services to persons with disabilities;

This project is aimed at increasing inclusion and reducing barriers for Yelsk District residents, namely people with disabilities of groups I and II (627 people), including people with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and people having the same status (55 people), unemployable people with disabilities (groups I and II) who live alone (310 people), familyless persons (360 people), families raising children with disabilities (82 people) and foster families (49 people).
