Italy to take part in construction project at Kamenka nursing home care

MOGILEV, 5 October (BelTA) – The Kamenka psycho-neurology nursing facility in the village of Slobodka, Bobruisk District plans to build housing for people with special needs. The Italian charitable foundation Forum for the rights of children of Chernobyl will provide humanitarian aid, BelTA learned from chairperson of the committee on labor, employment and social security of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Svetlana Tarasenko.

The preliminary agreement was reached in Mogilev at the meeting with President of the foundation’s committee in Desio Renato Malberti and representatives of the foundation in Bergamo. “We have discussed the prospects of our cooperation with the Kamenka psycho-neurology nursing facility and the possibility to build a house for ten people with special needs. It will be another step to socialize the residents of the nursing home care,” Svetlana Tarasenko said.

The project will be based on the experience of the Vesnovo nursing home care for children with special needs in Glusk District.

The Italian charitable foundation Forum for the rights of children of Chernobyl provided financial support to build sections for free residence of young people with disabilities. “They showed high efficiency in terms of adaptation to real life. They quickly learned how to do different things themselves. This even helped some of them to get employed,” said Svetlana Tarasenko.

In her words, the new project will be launched next year. The Italian partners plan to start raising funds for this purpose this year. “We are confident in their serious intentions. Over ten years of cooperation the foundation has helped to build a stadium at the Kamenka nursing facility, to purchase equipment for a candle workshop, a kitchen, shower cabins, a video surveillance system to ensure security, office equipment and computers, bells for the local chapel. Two greenhouses were also built for work therapy,” said Svetlana Tarasenko.
