MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – A delegation of Belarus’ Emergencies Ministry headed by Deputy Minister Igor Bolotov visited the main national civil defense staff at the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba and held a working meeting with Major General Ramón Pardo Guerra, Chief of the National Civil Defense Staff, BelTA learned from the press service of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus.

The parties discussed the prospects for signing an interdepartmental agreement on cooperation in emergency response and expanding professional contacts. The Cuban side was informed about training opportunities for Cuban specialists at the University of Civil Protection of the Emergencies Ministry o of Belarus.

The Belarusian delegation also toured the facilities of fire safety and civil defense of Cuba and the Ministry of the Interior and held a meeting with Colonel Daniel ChAvez Fujichiro, the Deputy Head of the Fire Department at the Ministry of the Interior of Cuba. The Belarusian delegation briefed the Cuban colleagues on educational opportunities in Belarus, Belarus-made rescue and firefighting equipment and personal protective equipment.

The Belarusian delegation also visited the Fidel Castro Center.

Humanitarian cargo from Belarus to Cuba will be handed over in official ceremony. It includes 14 commodity groups, among them medicines, canned meat and whole milk powder.
