China donates 2m doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Belarus

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Humanitarian aid from the Chinese government was handed over to the Embassy of Belarus at the Beijing airport on 9 November. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Yuri Senko was at the airport to accept the humanitarian cargo, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in China.

The humanitarian aid includes 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine Vero Cell made by Sinopharm and 2 million disposable syringes.

The agreement to transfer 2 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Belarus was reached during the meeting of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko with President of China Xi Jinping at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand on 15 September 2022.

The cargo is to be delivered by a Belarusian airline on 10-11 November.

All in all, in 2021-2022 China gave Belarus about 5 million doses of the vaccine as humanitarian aid (including this batch). Belarus purchased another 4.6 million doses.
