MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Minsk Oblast and Belarus tourism and cultural products center send humanitarian aid to China’s Chongqing, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
“A friend in need is a friend indeed. Chongqing is a twin city of Minsk Oblast. It has sent an official request for assistance. Of course, we could not leave the people of the region without support,” said Anna Dashkova, the head of the international relations department of the Economy Committee of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
Face masks have already been delivered and handed over to the city administration.
Belarus has sent two planes with humanitarian aid to China to help it fight the coronavirus outbreak. Minsk companies have also contributed to the shipment. The first plane was sent on 29 January with antibiotics to treat complications of viral infection, disinfectants, protective and decontamination agents. The second plane was sent on 5 February. This time they sent personal protective equipment, means for decontamination, disinfection of tools and premises, and other medical products.
According to the latest data, the coronavirus death toll in China is at 2,592, with 24,734 people recovered. Over the past day, 150 deaths were reported, and 1,846 people were discharged from hospitals. China raised the total number of cases in the mainland to 77,150 as of the end of Sunday, 23 February.
