MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Aviators of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry continue monitoring the situation in Belarus and helping fight wildfires in Turkey, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

Since the start of the year, 373 flights have been carried out on various aircraft over the territory of Belarus to detect 185 fires. It is aviation monitoring that helps detect wildfires in ecosystems at an early stage, which contributes to their rapid elimination and minimization of their consequences.

Two Mi-8 aircraft have already conducted 182 flights and 945 water discharges in Turkey. Their total flight time is 279.64 hours. Some 92 Turkish rescuers have been delivered to fire fighting sites. The Belarusian aviators will stay in Turkey till October.

Belarusian rescuers have been helping other countries battle natural disasters for many years already. The Belarusian Emergencies Ministry has sent aircraft to fight forest fires in Greece, Russia, Latvia, and Georgia and provided assistance to people affected by floods in Serbia.
