MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus is considering the issue related to the date for the presidential election in Belarus in 2020, BelTA has learned.
Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko named the presidential election the main public and political event for the country. “The results of the presidential election campaign are of crucial importance for every citizen, society and state in general, as they define the path for the country’s development in the coming years,” he stressed.
Under Article 97 of the Constitution the presidential election is scheduled by the House of Representatives. The Central Election Commission (CEC) submitted to the parliament the proposal to set the date for the presidential election. CEC Chairperson Lidia Yermoshina spoke on the matter in the Oval Hall.
