MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) - Traditional representatives of the opposition have dropped out of the president election campaign by choice, head of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina said in an interview to the Belarus 1 TV channel.
“I think they have dropped out because they wanted to. They have nothing to offer. They do not want to take responsibility because any power struggle and having this power is always a personal responsibility. Believe me, they all will run for the parliament next year because it is easier to share the collective responsibility with people than to be held accountable in this country (as in any other) for your actions,” Lidia Yermoshina said.
“Therefore, I think we will see them again. They will never yield their top positions in their small parties because out of politics they probably no longer exist as professionals," Lidia Yermoshina said.
