MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send invitations to international organizations to observe the presidential elections in Belarus within the next few days, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told reporters, BelTA has learned.
According to Vladimir Makei, the Minsitry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus "will send invitations to relevant international organizations wishing to monitor the election literally within the next few days.”
Among such organizations Vladimir Makei called the OSCE/ODIHR. "Their assessment is fundamental to the recognition or non-recognition of the election," said Vladimir Makei. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and some other organizations have expressed their willingness to observe the election in Belarus. "The President instructed us to invite anyone who wishes to participate in this process," said Vladimir Makei.
As was reported, the presidential election in Belarus will be held on 11 October. The CEC has already approved the schedule for the preparation and conduct of the election campaign.
