MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – The Central Election Commission of Belarus released the final results of the latest Belarus president election on 16 October, BelTA has learned.
As many as 201,945 voters (3.3%) cast ballots in favor of Sergei Gaidukevich. Tatiana Korotkevich won 271,426 votes (4.44%), Alexander Lukashenko — 5,102,478 votes (83.5%), Nikolai Ulakhovich — 102,131 (1.67%). The option None of the Above attracted about 386,200 people (6.3%) while about 48,800 ballot papers were invalidated.
After the final results of the presidential election were announced, Secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Nikolai Lozovik said that on the basis of article 82 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and article 79 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus on Elections and National Referendums decided to recognize the presidential election as valid and to recognize Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko as the winner of the election campaign.
As many as 7,008,682 people were on the voters’ list. On the election day the list was revised to add about 16,700 people. About 6.1 million people (87.22%) went to the polls, including over 2.5 million people opting for early voting. Over 3.1 million voters came to the polls on the main ballot day. Over 436,000 people opted for mobile voting.
Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina was unable to specify when the president will be inaugurated. She explained that the relevant division of the Belarus President Administration will take care of the matter.
