Raising living standards named priority in Belarus in 2016-2020

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Raising the living standards of the Belarusians is a priority in 2016-2020, Head of the Belarus President Administration Alexander Kosinets told reporters on 23 April when asked about the major goals which might be set at the 5th All-Belarusian People’s Congress, BelTA informs.

Alexander Kosinets stressed: “Raising the living standards of people in our country, higher wellbeing, creation of all necessary conditions for the formation of the human capital, development of education and healthcare, creation of new jobs will be the priorities in 2016-2020.”

Speaking about the prospects of the manufacturing sector and agribusiness, Alexander Kosinets remarked that they will be focused on boosting export. “We will do our best to be, first of all, competitive in the WTO, and to promote our products on foreign markets,” the head of the Belarus President Administration said.

The organizing committee for the 5th All-Belarusian People’s Congress has been formed. It has become a good tradition to sum up the results of every five-year period in Belarus. The All-Belarusian People’s Congresses sets concrete goals and tasks to promote the country’s social and economic development.

The head of the Belarus President Administration stressed that Belarus did a lot in the previous five-year period. The country modernized its manufacturing sector and agribusiness, built over 25 million square meters of housing. Belarus is the CIS leader in terms of housing construction, Alexander Kosinets said. Besides, a lot was done to develop transport, trade, social sector, education, healthcare, and culture. “A lot of facilities have been built to create a truly strong and prosperous state,” he added.
