MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – The social policy and its areas were worked out at the First Belarusian People's Congress, which remains an important tool in the search for optimal solutions to improve people's lives and wellbeing, Viktor Chuyeshov, Head of the Social Policy and Ideology Department at the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Philosophy and Professor, told the media on 16 December, BelTA has learned.
“The Belarusian People's Congress holds a special place in the tools of implementation of the ideology of the Belarusian state and social policy. Our social policy is a result of the decisions taken at the First Belarusian People's Congress, which discussed the models of social and economic development of the country, and made a choice in favor of the socially oriented market economy. It is clear that there are many contradictions today. The search for optimal solutions to these problems is one of the most important tasks of this supreme forum. It plays a special role in our political system,” Viktor Chuyeshov said.
He added that the “strong and prosperous Belarus” message and other ideological guidelines of the country's development, goals, ways and means to achieve them have also been developed thanks to the collective wisdom of people.
The Academy of Public Administration played host to a roundtable session “Topical Social Policy and Ideology Issues”. One of the reasons for holding it was the 30th anniversary of the institution. The meeting was attended by graduates, specialists in management and ideology, social policy and the media. The participants, including Director of the Institute of Public Service of the Academy of Public Administration, doctor of political sciences, associate professor Leonid Maltsev, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives doctor of historical sciences, professor Igor Marzalyuk, Deputy Healthcare Minister Yelena Bogdan, and Head of the Representative Office of the Permanent Committee of the Union State in Minsk, candidate of sociological sciences Marianna Shchetkina, developed approaches to solve topical issues in Belarus in order to use these proposals in the future at dialogue platforms and, possibly, when preparing materials for the Belarusian People's Congress. Participants discussed ideological aspects in the social sector, because, as Viktor Chuyeshov stressed, “the social policy is the most important pillar of the Belarusian state, and all existing programs are assets that we cannot give up”.
