Opinion: Belarus should boost production of knowledge-intensive, high-value added goods
MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Belarus should boost the production of knowledge-intensive goods with high value added, Director General of the Materials Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Valery Fedosyuk, who will attend the 5th Belarusian People’s Congress, told BelTA.
The congress will pay much attention to the economic development strategy of the country. Valery Fedosyuk is confident that Belarus has no other option than to continue on its path of innovative development. “We need to increase our exports, first of all, of knowledge-intensive products with high value added,” the delegate stressed.
Valery Fedosyuk emphasized that scientists continue making a considerable contribution to this objective. For instance, in several recent years, the Materials Research Center has been exporting scientific solutions to China, Russia and the countries of the European Union to the tune of more than $1million annually. The Chinese partners are interested in the Belarusian research in the field of magnetically soft materials, while the Russian side is particularly interested in electromagnetic radiation shielding products. We are currently in talks over possible participation of the center’s staff members in a European project related to cloud technology and 3D printing.
