Belarusian People’s Congress

MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – I hope that Belarusian People's Congress will adopt the decisions that will foster the prosperity of Belarus, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina told media.

According to Lidia Yermoshina, Belarusian People's Congress has become a traditional event. “We have held congresses since 1996. The modern society has not invented another thing how a government can directly consult with its people. Of course, there is such a thing as referendum, but we know that it is, first of all, expensive, and secondly, it is impossible to hear a live voice of a citizen. It is young people who will build up our country and move it forward to new highs in the coming years. I think young people participating in this public event can give advice and can also learn how to govern,” Lidia Yermoshina said.

The Chairperson of the Central Election Commission took part in a new project of the BRSM Youth Union called as Dialogue of Generations of the Flowers of Great Victory campaign. Taking part in the event are the delegates of the Belarusian People's Congress; young people from all regions of Belarus, war and labor veterans, MPs, representatives of science, politics, business, sports, culture and so on. Participants are discussing the youth-related issues, offering effective solutions and are expected to produce concrete proposals for discussion at the Belarusian People’s Congress.
