GRODNO, 14 June (BelTA) – The empowerment of private initiatives for the sake of resuming economic growth is one of the key ideas for accomplishing the tasks of the next five-year term. Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov made the statement at the meeting of participants of the fifth Belarusian People’s Congress representing Grodno Oblast on 14 June, BelTA has learned.
The Grodno Oblast Governor said: “Belarus is a country of equal opportunities. This is why in 2016-2020 a policy will be continued to enable conditions for any enterprising person regardless of their education and special economic knowledge to be able to start a business and find the job he or she likes. We are always on the lookout for answers to the questions as to how we can invigorate the initiative of Belarusian businessmen and what else government agencies need to do for this goal.”
Vladimir Kravtsov stressed that Grodno Oblast delegates are going to present ideas during the Belarusian People’s Congress. These ideas are meant to bolster the effectiveness of what has been done in the previous years. “There is no doubt that Grodno Oblast has praiseworthy accomplishments. In the last five years we made serious steps both in economic development and the social sphere. Yet the results of our work hint at our higher potential for endeavors. Today and during the fifth Belarusian People’s Congress we intend to discuss how we can tap into the potential, how we should work facing new challenges of the global economy, what mechanisms we should utilize and what new management methods we should learn and employ in practice. The key to resolving the existing problems may be found here,” believes Vladimir Kravtsov.
The Grodno Oblast Governor underlined that it is necessary to improve the state policy, separate functions of state policy and economic operations. The draft social and economic development guidelines for the next five-year term focus on increasing the effectiveness of economy administration by optimizing personnel numbers and functions of the state machine and by improving ownership relations. Plans have been made to create new jobs and step up small and medium privatization for the sake of raising investments for state enterprises. Focus will be placed on increasing the effectiveness and innovativeness of the real sector of the economy, Vladimir Kravtsov told the delegates.
As many as 350 people will represent Grodno Oblast during the fifth Belarusian People’s Congress. The number includes people from all fields of work and population strata, heads of major enterprises and organizations with a share of state capital and private companies, representatives of small and medium private companies, representatives of the agrarian, industrial, civil engineering, education, healthcare, and cultural sectors of the national economy.
