MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) – The process to elect delegates to the 6th Belarusian People’s Congress from Minsk is in full swing, deputy head of the Belarusian People's Congress organizing committee, Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Hall Artem Tsuran told BelTA.
“The organizing committee is working together with public associations of Minsk that represent thousands of employees of Minsk-based enterprises and offer solid support. The most numerous organizations are trade unions, the Belarusian Union of Women, the BRSM Youth Union, Belaya Rus, and the veterans’ organization. In total, they include over 1.3 million of Minsk residents – a massive figure. According to the representation quotas, Minsk can send 370 delegates to the congress. As many as 168 women have been elected as delegates from Minsk,” Artem Tsuran said.
He also noted that the delegates will represent all groups of the society: from construction and industrial workers, doctors, teachers, and entrepreneurs to heads of local companies. “Only the best are nominated as delegates to the congress, those who are capable of implementing the decisions that are crucial for the country and are ready for the constructive work for the benefit of themselves, their city and country,” Artem Tsuran added.
