MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – Proposals of delegates of the fifth Belarusian People’s Congress will be taken into account for finalizing the draft five-year program on Belarus’ social and economic development, BelTA learned from Belarusian Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky on 17 June.
The Economy Minister said: “We are some of the developers of the main provisions of the draft program on Belarus’ social and economic development in 2016-2020. I think the draft document will be duly appreciated during the Belarusian People’s Congress. I am convinced that the congress delegates will make important contributions that will be definitely taken into account for finalizing the program.”
Vladimir Zinovsky noted that the delegates express not only their own personal opinions but the opinions of their labor collectives and oblasts. “This is why it is very important that prior to the Belarusian People’s Congress every citizen, including congress delegates, can read the main provisions of social and economic development, can make their own evaluations and make good concrete proposals,” stated the official.
The main provisions of the draft program on Belarus’ social and economic development in 2016-2020 were published on 17 June. The main goals for the next five-year term include raising the GDP by 12-15% in 2020 in comparison with 2015, increasing real monetary income of citizens by 9.5-11.6%, and reducing interest rates on loans to 9-11% per annum.
Efforts will be channeled into investments, employment, export, informatization, and youth for the sake of reaching these goals.
The main purpose of the country’s development in 2016-2020 is to raise living standards of the nation by bolstering the competitive ability of the Belarusian economy, by raising investments and ensuring innovative development.
