MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) - If a 1.5-billion population of China remembers and venerates the truth about World War Two, no one will be allowed to distort it, bury it in oblivion, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview to the Chinese newspaper Renmin Ribao (People’s Daily) ahead of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China. The interview was published on 3 September, BelTA informs.
“We must acknowledge that there are world powers who are interested in revising the results of the Second World War. What do they need it for? To cast discredit on the historical truth, challenge the present rights and interests of the countries which shouldered the greatest burden of war in Europe and Asia,” stressed the President of Belarus. Such things must not be allowed, he added.
“As a well-known saying goes, those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. In this context China has a special, if you like, historic mission: if a 1.5-billion population of China remembers and honors the truth about World War Two, no one will be allowed to distort it, bury it in oblivion,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
