Ticketpro named ticket operator of European Games in Minsk

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) - The company Ticketpro will be a ticket operator of the European Games in Minsk. The document was signed by Anatoly Kotov, Deputy Director of the 2019 European Games Directorate and Ticketpro Director General Kirill Sushchinsky, BelTA has learned.

Tickets for competitions of the Second European Games will go on sale as soon as the competition program is coordinated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the European Olympic Committees (EOC) but not later than one year before the games, Kirill Sushchinsky informed.

In turn, Anatoly Kotov explained that under the preliminary draft program the European Games 2019 will sell about 800,000 tickets. “We shall coordinate the ticketing program with the EOC so that the maximum number of spectators attend the competitions. This means that the prices should be affordable and the ticket purchase schemes easy.

Ticketpro will take into account the experience of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and Pyeongchang. The company aims to make a ticket purchase a convenient experience both for Belarusians and also for sports fans from foreign countries. "It is important that the prices for both categories of buyers should be the same. In a number of European states the tickets for the 2019 European Games will be sold by the official ticket operators that will be appointed by the National Olympic Committees of those countries. It is in this way that we will ensure accessibility and transparency of the ticket sales and exclude any bad faith actors,” Kirill Sushchinsky said.

While manufacturing the tickets for the European Games, Minsk will take into account the experience of the 2014 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championship. They will be produced on special paper, with lots of degrees of protection. Subsequently, fans will be informed of the design of the tickets. This information will be particularly useful for foreigners because the tickets will be used as visas to Belarus. “In any case, we will have to observe a certain balance so that the ticket production should not turn into an expensive process. But we must meet all the necessary standards to exclude cases of forgery,” Anatoly Kotov said. He also expressed confidence that the company Ticketpro  which was the ticket operator of the 2014 IIHF World Ice Hockey championship, will be able to can solve such tasks.

As it was reported earlier, Spain’s International Sports Broadcasting SL will organize televised broadcasting of the Second European Games.

Minsk will host the Second European Games on 21-30 June 2019.
