MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Alexander Zhukov, President of Russia’s National Olympic Committee, member of the International Olympic Committee joined the EOC Coordination Commission for the Second European Games due in Minsk in 2019, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarus’ National Olympic Committee.
Earlier on, Alexander Zhukov was appointed head of the IOC Coordination Commission for 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Some other heads of national committees have become members of the EOC Coordination Commission, among them Alejandro Blanco (Spain), Daina Gudzineviciute (Lithuania), Andrzej Krasnicki (Poland), Niels Nygaard (Denmark), Sergei Bubka (Ukraine), Zlatko Matesa (Croatia), and Spyros Capralos (Greece).
The commission comprises heads, secretaries-general, and representatives of the European National Olympic Committees and sports federations.
The Second European Games will take place in Belarus from 20 to 30 June 2019. The solemn opening will be held at Dinamo Stadium in Minsk on 21 June 2019.
