MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – We are planning to sell the rights to broadcast the Second European Games to 160 countries Anatoly Kotov, Deputy Director of the 2019 European Games Directorate, told the media, BelTA has learned.
He noted that less than 500 days are left before the launch of the major sporting event. In many areas the work has gone from planning into implementation. Spain’s International Sports Broadcasting SL will organize televised broadcasting of the Second European Games. “In the course of talks we managed to negotiate the good terms for the Belarusian TV and Radio Company. The upcoming sports forum will be an excellent opportunity for domestic television to upgrade technologically and get great experience in broadcasting a major sporting event. We will try to expand the audience of the Second European Games. The first European Games in Baku were broadcast to 140 countries. We plan to extend the TV reach into 160 countries,” Anatoly Kotov said.
As it was reported, Ticketpro has been selected the ticket operator of the Second European Games. “Tickets should go on sale a year before the games. Fans will have an option to purchase tickets for individual events and integrated packages. The challenge for the European Games organizers is to draw as many fans as possible,” Anatoly Kotov noted.
Each cluster hosting the European Games competitions will offer food courts, opportunities for recreation and entertainment for fans. The work on the games mascot is nearing completion. “We have received many good works. We have sent some to professional artists and designers. We are planning to unveil the mascot by mid-March,” Anatoly Kotov informed.
Work is completing on the transportation program: the number of transport vehicles which should be used during the even has been determined, the bus schedule is being finalized.
Minsk will host the Second European Games on 21-30 June 2019. The Games will feature 15 sports: badminton, 3x3 basketball, boxing, wrestling(freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, women’s wrestling), cycling (track and road), gymnastics (artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, aerobics, and trampoline), rowing (kayak and canoe competitions), judo, karate, track and field athletics, sambo, archery, shooting (including clay target shooting), table tennis, and beach football.
