MINSK, 11 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ National Olympic Committee invited participants of the 19th World Congress of Russian Press to cover the Second European Games to be held in Minsk in 2019, BelTA has learned.
Participants of the congress attended the presentation of the European Games at the National Olympic Committee on 11 July. The guests were told about the successes of the Belarusian sport, the upcoming games, the logo and were invited to cover the sports forum and to participate in the contest for the design of its mascot.
“We see the European Games as a certain stage in the development of sports in the country,” Georgy Katulin, the head of the Directorate of the Second European Games said. “Having taken part in many Olympic Games, other major tournaments, I can confidently say that the success of the European Games in Minsk is impossible without proper media coverage. I am convinced that many of the participants in the Russian press congress will come to Belarus in 2019. Thanks to journalists many people around the world will know everything what is happening at the European Games in Minsk,” he said.
According to Georgy Katulin, thanks to the convenient geographical position Belarus will attract many tourists from Europe who will come to see the events which will be held in modern sports facilities.
When asked when the information and promotional campaign starts, Georgy Katulin said that a communications department will be soon set up with the support of the Information Ministry. It will closely deal with the coverage of this major sports event.
The Second European Games will be held from 20 to 30 June 2019. The opening ceremony will take place at Dinamo Stadium on 21 June.
The 19th World Congress of Russian Press is running in Minsk from 11 to 15 July. The forum is attended by media representatives from 52 countries.
