MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarusian acrobats Veranika Nabokina, Julia Ivonchyk and Karina Sandovich clinched gold in Acrobatic Gymnastics Women's Groups Balance on 22 June, BelTA has learned.
Team Belarus got 29.520 points from the jury. Belgium’s Talia de Troyer, Britt Vanderdonckt and Charlotte van Royen landed second with 29.320 points. Bronze went to Portugal.
This was Belarus’ first gold medal at the 2nd European Games.
The Belarusians landed third in Women's Groups Balance at the 1st European Games in Baku. Apart from that, they won silver in Women’s Group at the 2018 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp.
MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Belarusian acrobats Veranika Nabokina, Julia Ivonchyk and Karina Sandovich on winning the first gold medal for Belarus at the 2nd European Games, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“This beautiful and convincing victory aroused strong and unforgettable emotions. The first successes of our athletes, in particular, your gold medal, is a great gift for all Belarusians and a wonderful start of the European Games,” the message reads.
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the athletes and all the coaches good health and new achievements.
