MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – About 1,000 doping samples will be taken during the 2nd European Games MINSK 2019, Director of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) Georgy Katulin a press conference, BelTA has learned.
“On 11 July Minsk hosted Dr Klaus Steinbach, the chair of the EOC Medical and Anti-Doping Commission. The anti-doping program will be the responsibility of the EOC. Officers of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) will be also involved during the games, including in the capacity of chaperones (to accompany the athletes to the doping control station) in order to fully comply with all anti-doping rules,” Georgy Katulin noted.
The 2nd European Games are scheduled to take place at 12 sport venues in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete for 201 sets of awards in 15 sports. The competitions in 10 sports will offer qualification opportunities for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
