MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarus has been continuously graining ground as a reliable venue for hosting talks on regional security, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at the opening of the first conference of honorary consuls of Belarus on 3 October, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus’ consecutive and constructive steps as well as its recently voiced initiatives have contributed to the strengthening of Minsk’s position as a reliable venue for negotiating the matters of regional security,” the head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
He stressed that the military rhetoric of some states, which stopped paying attention to other countries, is getting stronger today. “It is the road to nowhere, to a dead end,” the minister said.
Vladimir Makei took note of Belarus’ proposal to resume the talks within the Helsinki Process. “In the age of global threats and challenges it is only possible only with the help of a negotiating table and together to discuss the emerging issues and problems, with the ultimate goal to maintain peace and security,” he stressed.
The minister also spoke about Belarus’ “integration of integrations” proposal, which means the cooperation between different integration associations. Vladimir Makei believes as important to develop close contacts between the European and Eurasian structures, especially in the present-day conditions of global challenges.
