MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – The program with the International Monetary Fund is not a panacea but an indicator of the openness of the Belarusian economy. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement in his address to the nation and the parliament on 21 April, BelTA has learned.
There is a great investment potential in cooperation with international financial organizations. “It will open doors for many large investors. The development of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund requires close attention. The Belarus-IMF program is not a panacea but an indicator of the openness of our economy,” said the Belarusian leader.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, while talking to the IMF the Belarusian side should protect its interests, arguing in its own favor, explaining things, and demanding the understanding of the other party.
The International Monetary Fund is a specialized UN institution headquartered in Washington, USA. The IMF was founded in 1945. Belarus has been an IMF member since 1992.
