MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Center of Electronic Services have offered foreigners an opportunity to register with the police online, BelTA has learned from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Since 2 January 2019 foreign nationals and stateless persons who are temporarily staying in Belarus will be able to get registered on the website portal.gov.by without having to visit a local police office. This service is free of charge and will be available to foreigners who arrived in Belarus through checkpoints on the Belarusian border.
Registration can be done through a PC, a mobile phone or any other device having access to the Internet. In order to get registered, foreigners must create an account on this website using their e-mail address. After that, they should choose this service in the Citizenship and Migration category and fill in an online application. The registration will be done when a user receives a message confirming that he/she is registered at the indicated address in Belarus. In line with Article 285 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus, foreigners will be exempt from paying a fee for online registration.
At the same time, foreign nationals and stateless persons will still be able to get registered at a local office of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
However, to extend the registration, foreign nationals and stateless persons should visit a local office of the Citizenship and Migration Department in the district where they are staying. Foreigners who arrived in Belarus by crossing the Belarus-Russia border should get registered at the local office of the Citizenship and Migration Department at the district where they are staying in Belarus.
