Yesin: Belarus wants to see German investors in automotive and chemical industries

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) - Belarus would like to see German investors in its automotive and chemical industries, Ruslan Yesin, the deputy director of the department for foreign economic activity at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during the 8th Day of German Economy in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

"Belarus would like to see investors from Germany primarily in the industries which are recognized leaders. These are mechanical engineering and automotive industry, chemical and petrochemical industries, energy, high technology, pharmaceuticals,” said Ruslan Yesin.

He also drew attention to the fact that there are 333 enterprises with the participation of the German capital and 77 offices of German companies in Belarus.

In turn, German Ambassador to Belarus Peter Dettmar noted that the Belarusian-German economic partnership does not match the existing potential. "The bilateral trade has decreased significantly. The German economic unions want to see investment conditions improve: for example, this applies to taxation, labor market and social security. This, of course, does not contradict the fact that your country has a strong infrastructure, highly-skilled workforce and relatively low labor costs,” said Peter Dettmar.
