HANOI, 8 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian automaker BelAZ will sell over $12 million worth of vehicles to Vietnam. A number of relevant contracts and agreements were signed during the Belarusian-Vietnamese business forum in Hanoi on 8 December, BelTA has learned.
In particular, BelAZ has contracted to deliver seven mine dump trucks worth $1 million. The Belarusian company has also signed an agreement to ship about 20 mine dump trucks worth over $11 million.
A contract on shipping BelAZ vehicle parts to Vietnam has been signed as well.
Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko told media that Southeast Asia is an interesting market for Belarus because it is one of the most steadily developing regions. “While the rest of the world experiences recession, the ASEAN countries, which are home to 500 million people, demonstrate growth as large as 5.5-6% per annum. This is why it is god’s will that we should take care of the region,” said the official. As an example he mentioned Indonesia. Two years ago leaders of the two countries gave instructions to double the mutual trade turnover. The task has been exceeded. Apart from potash fertilizers Belarus now supplies tractors, automobiles, and other products. “It was not easy because it was necessary to work out models that fit this market. It happened during a complicated period that saw the global crisis followed by recession, in particular, the demand for BelAZ vehicles fell. Nevertheless, a breakthrough has been secured and deliveries have been resumed,” said the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus.
