Vietnam pleased with comfortable business conditions in Belarus

GOMEL, 27 October (BelTA) – Comfortable conditions for foreign investors to do business have been enabled in Belarus, BelTA learned from Nguyen Thien Phuong, commercial counselor of the Embassy of Vietnam in Belarus, who took part in the international forum Business Days in Gomel on 27 October.

The diplomat said: “The Belarusian economy is open to foreign investments. The legal base is well-developed and guarantees are available. These are important factors that representatives of business circles pay attention to. Comfortable conditions for foreign investors to do business have been enabled in Belarus.”

Nguyen Thien Phuong also noted that the spectrum of mutual interests of Belarus and Vietnam is rather broad. “The trade turnover is supposed to reach $500 million within the next few years. The agreement on free trade between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam contributes a lot to it,” believes the diplomat. According to the commercial counselor, Belarus’ main exports to Vietnam are fertilizers, mechanical engineering products, equipment, and medications. Vietnam sells to Belarus such products as cashew nuts, rice, footwear, textile products, tinned vegetables and fruits, coffee and tea, spices, juices, and other things. Some Vietnamese goods are showcased in Gomel during the ongoing exhibition Business in the Regions.

Belarus-Vietnam relations in education, science, culture, and tourism advance fast. In 2015 Vietnam welcomed some 5,000 Belarusian tourists. This year the figure will be doubled according to preliminary data, said Nguyen Thien Phuong.

It is the third time the forum Business Days in Gomel has been organized. Delegations from 19 countries are taking part in the forum. The key goals of the international forum include creating an effective dialogue platform for establishing direct business contacts, working out cooperation strategies, discussing topical matters of business development, and sharing the best practices. Meanwhile, the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has organized the 14th national universal exhibition Business in the Regions. The exhibition will last through 28 October.
