MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) - The purchase share of domestically produced medical equipment is increasing in Belarus, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told the media on 2 November, BelTA has learned.
“We have faced difficulties not only with the purchase of Western medical equipment, but also with the fulfillment of their [Western partners’] obligations to supply spare parts and consumables. What do health and humanistic values have to do with the political situation? The story of sports is repeating itself with healthcare. We have got used to it and are just stating the fact. This is a vivid illustration of the real attitude to our people on the part of individual states,” Roman Golovchenko said.
In his words, Belarus could not leave its medical equipment without consumables and found alternative suppliers of medical goods and spare parts. “China supplies high-quality equipment today. European equipment continues to be supplied as well. There are no problems here. It is also worth mentioning that we are increasing the purchase share of the domestically produced medical equipment. At least a third of all purchased devices are Belarus-made,” the prime minister said. Russian equipment is also supplied to Belarus.
Roman Golovchenko took part in a ceremony to inaugurate the national center for professional certification and simulation training of medical and pharmaceutical workers of the Healthcare Personnel Advanced Training and Retraining Institute of Belarusian State Medical University. Its construction started in cooperation with international organizations.
“Regretfully, just like some other facilities, it was abandoned by our foreign partners virtually in the initial stage of the project. We spent roughly 15-20% of the international funding that had been allocated for this facility. Certainly, we could not let the country lose this unique center. This is why we decided to finish its construction using domestic resources. We have accomplished this task,” the head of government said opening the center.
The unique equipment the center is supposed to have was the key problem. “Friends and partners from the Russian Federation, to be specific, from the Republic of Tatarstan came to our aid. We can say with confidence that the equipment the center has is on par with world analogs,” the prime minister stressed.
