MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – The number of Minsk Forum participants indicates the unwavering interest in the event of Belarus and the European Union, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Belarus Peter Dettmar on 16 November.
The diplomat said: “If there was no such forum, we would have to create one. The number of participants, who are eager to take part in it every year, vividly demonstrates that even 20 years down the road the forum is still interesting for both sides.”
Although official panel sessions steal all the limelight, discussions on the forum’s sidelines are as interesting. “There is one copybook maxim: it is better to talk to each other than about each other. The Minsk Forum offers a fitting platform for it,” Peter Dettmar summed up.
18 November is the final day of this year’s Minsk Forum. The first forum took place in Minsk in 1997. After a six-year hiatus the forum resurged in 2016.
