MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – The UK is interested in working together with Belarus to train IT specialists. The relevant matters were discussed when Belarusian First Deputy Information Technologies and Communications Minister Dmitry Shedko met with British Ambassador to Belarus Fionna Gibb on 16 June, BelTA has learned.
Fionna Gibb suggested considering the possibility of cooperation between Belarusian and UK universities in training (retraining) information technology specialists.
The conversation also touched upon the main areas of focus of the Information Technologies and Communications Ministry as well as the largest projects of the five-year term. Those include the creation of the Belarusian integrated service and payment system, the national system for paperless trade and so on. The lack of barriers that prevent foreign companies from taking part in tenders in Belarus was noted.
Fionna Gibb expressed interest in participation in major events held under the aegis of the Information Technologies and Communications Ministry. Dmitry Shedko said he hopes the Ambassador will visit the information technology and communication accomplishments center that is supposed to open in late 2016. He also said he hopes the Ambassador will attend the international forum on telecommunications, information and banking technologies TIBO 2017.
