MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) – Tank transporters made by the Belarusian automobile engineering company MZKT (OAO Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant) are being tested in the United Arab Emirates, BelTA learned from MZKT Director General Igor Letov on 15 December. The head of the Belarusian company made a few comments during the media briefing held on the occasion of the unveiling of a memorial sign in honor of Boris Shaposhnik, the first designer of special tractor trucks.
The MZKT Director General specified that the contract on delivering the tank transporters to the UAE was signed in 2015. “It is a long-term contract. As part of the contract we are supposed to make samples and deliver them to the customer. The samples have been tested since July 2016,” said Igor Letov. According to the source, the Belarusian company has contracted to deliver tank transporters with trailers and semi-trailers.
The MZKT Director General did not clarify the volume of the contract or its timeframe. He noted that details would be revealed after the tests were over.
BelTA has been told that MZKT products are now exported to about 20 countries across the globe. “We are working with new regions now. Contracts have been signed to deliver samples and prototypes of our vehicles,” said the MZKT Director General. This year the Belarusian company is expected to export $147 million worth of merchandise, up from $142 million in 2015.
