MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) – The eighth meeting of Belarusian and Russian twin towns will take place in Podolsk, Moscow Oblast on 27 November, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Belarusian public organization Twinned Towns, member of the Council of the Republic Boris Batura, who is heading the Belarusian delegation.
The meeting will highlight cooperation between twin towns of Belarus and Russia necessary for the development of economic, investment, innovative and social projects in the Eurasian Economic Union. It is expected that participating in the event will be nearly 200 representatives of Belarusian and Russian cities. The meeting will also be attended by President of the international association Twinned Towns, Moscow Oblast Governor Andrei Vorobyov, heads of the diplomatic missions of Belarus and Russia.
The Belarusian public organization Twinned Towns was set up in 1995 and is run by the Belarusian Society of friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries. Today 32 cities of Belarus maintain twin-town relations with 335 cities of 35 countries.
