OSTROVETS, 16 November (BelTA) – In 2016 Turkish private companies invested over $10 million in Grodno Oblast, BelTA learned from Vladimir Deshko, Deputy Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, during the ceremony held in Ostrovets on 16 November to open a new hotel.
A new three-star hotel was opened in Ostrovets on 16 November. It is one of the first social and tourism facilities built in Grodno Oblast with assistance of Turkish capital. Vladimir Deshko said: “I am convinced that cooperation will become fruitful. The same investor is implementing the project to set up a motorway service outlet near the border checkpoint Kotlovka in Ostrovets District. There are other projects in the oblast, too. So far this year the investment portfolio of the Turkish private sector in the region has exceeded $10 million.” The Turkish private sector is also interested in setting up manufacturing facilities in Grodno Oblast.
“Let’s talk about Volkovysk, for example. Turkish money has been used to start manufacturing heating radiators and their components at a local factory that makes roofing, construction, and finishing machines. It is a serious business that will make new-generation radiators with drastically different performance numbers,” he said.
The three-star Sun Hotel in Ostrovets can welcome over 100 guests at a time. The six-story building offers about 70 rooms, including one and two-bed rooms and so-called VIP suites. The hotel will also have a restaurant, a pizzeria, a conference hall, a gym, and a video game arcade. Opening a night club for young people is a possibility. The hotel has already created over 100 jobs.
