MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) – Last year the trade between Belarus’ Minsk Oblast and Iran increased by 10.5 times over 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Saeed Yari told the media, BelTA has learned.
Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin met with Iranian Ambassador Saeed Yari. Belarus and Iran interact at a very high level, Aleksandr Turchin noted. Belarus and Iran have long been under the sanctions. But as the experience of the two countries showed we can successfully counter the sanctions by joint efforts, he added.
Last year the trade between Belarus and Iran rose threefold as against 2021, the Iranian ambassador noted. Trade between Belarus’ Minsk Oblast and Iran surged by 10.5 times last year from 2021. “I am sure it will keep growing. We have already drafted relevant agreements in this regard. I hope we will be able to sign new documents soon to further our relations," Ambassador Saeed Yari added.
The Iranian ambassador believes that the increase in trade between Minsk Oblast and Iran was possible thanks to the joint work of the Minsk regional administration, Tehran and the embassy. “We are currently implementing a few successful projects in Minsk Oblast. These are, for example, the AFTAB project in agriculture, the Bel Peca Paint paint production project and the Eastern Sheep project. We see great opportunities for the development of relations between Belarus and Iran in the future,” Ambassador Saeed Yari said.
