Trade between Belarus and Russia’s Vologda Oblast up by 11.1% in Q1 2018

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – The trade between Belarus and Russia’s Vologda Oblast rose by 11.1% in Q1 2018, Chairman of the Bellesbumprom Concern Yuri Nazarov, who also heads the Belarusian part of the joint commission on cooperation, told reporters on 4 June, BelTA has learned.

“Cooperation between Belarus and Russia’s Vologda Oblast has been steadily developing. In 2017 the trade amounted to $396.9 million, which was 77.1% higher than a year earlier. This is a very good result. The trade expanded in areas such as engineering and agriculture. In the first quarter 2018 we also worked pretty well: the trade totaled $93.1 million, up by 11.1% over the same period a year before,” Yuri Nazarov noted.

Governor of Russia’s Vologda Oblast Oleg Kuvshinnikov noted that the Russian side would like to bolster relations in trade. “Today we will be talking about the project to set up a large machine-building cluster at Cherepovets Casting-Mechanical Plant with participation of Belarusian enterprises. We will also talk over the purchase of MAZ buses, developing a cluster of wooden house construction. Logging, timber processing and agriculture are among the areas of our cooperation,” he noted

The meeting of the joint commission for the development of cooperation between Belarus and Vologda Oblast of Russia is running in Minsk. The documents to be signed today include a protocol of the meeting, a cooperation agreement between the Mogilev City Hall and Vologda city administration, an agreement on municipal cooperation.
