MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Matters of expanding the presence of Swiss companies in Belarus were discussed as First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin met with representatives of Swiss business circles while in Switzerland on a working visit, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Turchin met with President of the Swiss association of mechanical and electrical engineering industries Swissmem, Vice President of the Swiss business federation Economiesuisse Hans Hess.
The day before Aleksandr Turchin met with Alex Naef, CEO of the bus and trolleybus making company Carrosserie HESS AG. The sides discussed possibilities for further expansion of cooperation.
Apart from that, the Belarusian delegation led by Aleksandr Turchin visited the Federal Assembly of Switzerland in Bern where a meeting with the Swiss parliament’s group of friendship with Belarus took place.
On 6 June Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko met with Head of the Office of the Embassy of Switzerland in Minsk Claude Altermatt. The sides underlined the importance of the decision the Swiss government made on 15 May to upgrade its diplomatic mission up to the embassy level. “This step testifies to a noticeable intensification of Belarusian-Swiss relations,” the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
The meeting also touched upon the state and prospects of advancing bilateral cooperation, including preparations for joint events.
