MOSCOW, 26 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Swiss company Stadler Minsk will execute most part of the contract with the Russian airport rail link operator Aeroexpress, Peter Spuhler, CEO and owner of Stadler Rail Group, told BelTA after a press conference in Moscow.

“The contract provides for the supply of 11 double-deck EMUs. More than half of them will be produced in Belarus,” Peter Spuhler said. Under the contract, Stadler will supply 9 six-car and 2 four-car trains: all in all 62 cars.

The new trains will be put into service in November-December this year General Director of Aeroexpress, Aleksei Krivoruchko said. The total amount of the contract is €183 million. “These are a unique, uber-modern, very comfortable trains. I am convinced that those will be some of the finest trains in the world,” he said

Stadler Rail Group was supposed to deliver 25 double-deck trains for Aeroexpress in 2014. But the contract was disrupted due to the economic crisis in Russia. The trains supplied under the new contract will be used on the rail links connecting Moscow with Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports. Aleksei Krivoruchko informed that in the future Aeroexpress expects to upgrade the rolling stock used to connect the Russian capital with Sheremetyevo Airport when the economic environment turns for the better.
