China-Belarus industrial park Great StoneSMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 4 October (BelTA) – Many Spanish companies are interested in working in Belarus, BelTA learned from Alfonso Jurado Mesa, Belarus’ honorary consul in Alicante, Spain, as the consul visited the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone on 4 October.

The honorary consul believes that the number of contact points in Belarus-Spain cooperation will grow larger in the future. “Many Spanish companies are interested in starting up an operation in Belarus,” he noted.

“Belarusians are intent on making their products recognizable all over the world,” noted Alfonso Jurado Mesa. “Results of these efforts are noticeable, particularly in IT. The country has great prospects in this regard.”

The first conference of honorary consuls of Belarus began on 3 October. On 4 October the diplomats visited the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. A tour of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ was also part of the itinerary.

At present 80 honorary consuls represent and protect rights and interests of Belarusian citizens in 56 countries. The consuls are also expected to facilitate the advancement of friendly relations, the expansion of political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, scientific ties and other kinds of ties with foreign nations. As a rule, areas of responsibility of Belarus’ honorary consuls include industrial and financial centers. The consuls themselves enjoy well-earned respect in political and business circles.
