MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – Some 15 apartment houses will be erected as part of the third stage of the project to build social housing in Belarus with China’s technical assistance, Alexander Gorval, the head of the housing policy department of the Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry, told the media on 29 June, BelTA has learned.
“The first stage of the China-sponsored project envisages the construction of 16 apartment buildings in different parts of the country. A half of them have already been commissioned. Preparations for the second stage to build another 22 blocks of flats are well underway. The design documentation for the third stage has been drawn up. Around 15 houses will be erected during the third stage of the project,” Alexander Gorval said.
The project is implemented using China’s technical and economic assistance granted under the agreement between the governments of China and Belarus of 29 September 2016, and the technical and economic assistance provided in 2017. Alexander Gorval noted that the Chinese side will extend over $100 million on a non-repayable basis.
The Chinese technical and economic assistance is used to build social housing in Belarus for those who need to improve their living conditions, including low-income segments of the population as defined by the Belarusian law. The housing developed as part of this project is state (municipal) property, and cannot be sold, leased, or inherited.
