MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – As many as 10 million face masks made by Belarusian light industry enterprises have been sold in the country, BelTA learned from Belarusian Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik on 9 April.
The official said that 7.5 million reusable masks and 2.5 million disposable masks made by the domestic light industry had been sold.
At present the light industry makes over 500,000 masks and protective dressings per day and is intent on increasing the number to over 1 million. “But due to feverish demand the number of masks that sell exceeds the number of masks that are made. We are already considering the possibility of buying more masks somewhere in order to satisfy the demand of drugstores. But it is a problem to buy means of protection right now. The export of masks is banned in Russia and other countries. This is why our manufacturing sector is trying to raise its output capacity,” the healthcare minister stressed.
